Long Ball Mount for 2 inch Trailer Hitch with 4 Inch Drop and 13 Inches Clearance

Question:

I have the hitch BM20 with a 2inch drop and my tandem trailer rides about level. Can I switch to the 4inch drop and does trailer have something similar to bm20- 13inch long is my length needed. Will lowering this much impact my rear tires since it will now be 2inch lower? I think the 2inch drop may help with gas mileage?

Curt ball mount # C45270 does have a 4 inch drop and measures 13 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. It is rated for 750 pounds tongue weight and 7,500 pounds gross trailer weight.

And we also have ball mount # EA40 which has a 4 inch drop and measures 14-5/8 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. It is rated for 800 pounds tongue weight and 8,000 pounds gross trailer weight.

You will want to tow the trailer as level as possible. Having too much tongue weight with the trailer angled down at the front could cause sag at the back of the tow vehicle and cause the front to ride high affecting steering, braking, and visibility.

I have included a link to a help article that shows how to measure for the right rise or drop to tow a trailer level.
