The items that you will need, in addition to a trailer hitch, will depend on what you want to do with the hitch. If you only plan on carrying a bike rack or a cargo carrier from time to time, then you will only need a trailer hitch, # C13153, and the carrier of your choice. If you would like a bike or cargo carrier recommendation, let me know what you plan on carrying and I would be happy to help.
If you plan on towing a trailer, then you will need a tail light wiring harness, a ball mount, hitch ball, pin and clip and possibly a brake controller if your trailer has electric brakes.
If your Santa Fe did not come pre-wired with the factory tow package, then the wiring harness that you will want is the Curt T-Connector Harness, # C56184. If you have the factory tow package, then you can use part # C56332. You can contact a local Hyundai dealer with your VIN and they can tell you if your vehicle was pre-wired with the tow package. These harnesses will provide the tail light functions for a trailer.
If you are towing a trailer with an on-board battery or electric brakes, then you will also want to install our Universal 4-Way and 7-Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. This kit includes everything that you will need to have a fully functioning 7-way trailer connector other than the brake controller. If you need a brake controller, I recommend the Prodigy P3, # 90195. I have attached an installation video for the ETBC7 kit and the brake controller on a Hyundai Santa Fe for you to check out.
The final item that I recommend is the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit, # 989900. This kit includes 2 different ball mounts, 2 hitch balls, a pin and clip and a storage bag.
If you can give me more details about your trailer (brakes, battery, trailer connector style) I would be happy to give you a more specific list of the parts you will need.
