Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Harness C56331 Installation in 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan
Question:
I recently purchased the C56150 trailer lighting kit for my 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. After installing everything according to directions, the turn signal lights didnt work properly. After troubleshooting, it said that you might need to ground the brake lights on some vehicles. After doing that, the turn signals worked on the trailer, but now the brake lights dont. Any suggestions to get this to work? Thanks in advance for the help.

Thank you for your purchases from etrailer.
I suggest you re-check your ground wire connection. It can happen that a weak ground will pass enough current for some light functions but not others. Turn signals that blink on and off will draw less power than the brakes, which remain illuminated as long as you step on the pedal. You can try sanding off any paint/primer that may remain on the grounding point to enable a better connection, or you can relocate the ground terminal to a new spot that provides better metal-to-metal contact.
You can also test the red (brake light) input wire to verify that it is carrying the brake light signal to the harness when the brake pedal is pressed. If the signal is going in but not coming out then the harness may be bad. If you do need to replace the harness I suggest you use a custom-fit type like # C56331.
