How Much Air Pressure to Put in a Trailer Tire and Do Trailer Tires Have to be Balanced

Question:

How much air pressure should I inflate these tires to? And should these be balanced before I put them on? I have a Montana 30foot 5 th wheel weighing about 12000 lbs loaded.

For any trailer tire you should always inflate them to the maximum psi indicated on the tire. For tire # AM32734 inflate it to 95 psi. You inflate them to their max because trailer tires are built with a thicker side wall compare to passenger vehicle tires. This is so they can handle more vertical load. If under inflated the thicker side wall causes excessive heat build up. Heat is the number one enemy of tires.

Trailer tires do not have to be balanced. Trailers do not have drive wheels or steering axles like a passenger vehicle does so balancing them is not critical. It is also difficult to find a place that will balance a trailer tire because it takes a special rig and there are very few places that have the proper equipment.

I have included a link to our help article on trailer tires for you.
