Trailer Hitch And Wiring Recommendation For 2014 Ford F-150 With No Tow Package

Question:

Hello, We have a request to quote a customer a class 4 hitch, for a 2014 F-150 without any OEM trailer provisions. Were looking to quote a customer your hitch. Can you give me electrical recommendations. I would like a 4 pin kit and a 7 pin kit to quote.

The hitch I recommend for your 2014 Ford F-150 is the TorkLift Trailer Hitch, part # TLF1005H. This is a Class lV hitch and has a dual 2 inch receiver opening. This hitch comes with 2 pins and clips so you can carry a hitch mounted carrier or bike rack while you tow.

We also offer an adjustable shank for this hitch, part # TLM9000. This is a 12-3/4 inch long shank and is designed to fit the SuperHitch.

If you need a ball mount for the adjustable shank I recommend the Magnum Ball Mount Adapter, part # TLM9005.

For hitch balls, I recommend part # A-90 for a 2 inch ball and part # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch ball.

To give you a 4-way and 7-way connector at the rear of the F-150, I recommend the Hopkins Replacement Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Connector, part # 30955. This plugs into the 7-way connector at the rear of the truck and will give you a 4-way in addition to the 7-way connector.

If a brake controller is needed I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. This is our most popular proportional brake controller because it is easy to install and use.

I also recommend the Tow Ready Plug-In Wiring Adapter, part # 22292. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your brake controller and then plug the other end into the built-in harness beneath your vehicle's dash.
