Tekonsha P3 Trailer Brake Controller Flashes No Brakes Sometimes
Question:
every so often the red light no brakes will come on the p3 display the 7way connector is new as this problem started after it got damaged from backing up the trailer the trailer has led brake and turn signals on it. any thoughts?

Besides saying No Brakes, what else is displayed on your P3 # 90195? It should also potentially say Open Ground, Overload, or Output Shorted.
If it says Open Ground that means that the ground connection for the controller is not properly connected.
If it says Overload then there is likely a short probably originating from the 7-Way connector. You will want to make sure that none of the wires inside the 7-Way are touching each other.
Output Shorted is similar to overload and could also be a ground issue at the connector or brake controller.
You will also want to trace the wires from the 7-Way forward on the vehicle because there may be some unseen damage that occurred. You will also want to inspect the trailer side connector. Make sure both connectors are clean and free of corrosion inside and out. I have linked some help articles on testing and troubleshooting brake controllers for you.
