Troubleshooting Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 Installation in 2007 Tahoe
Question:
I installed the P2- wired correctly and rechecked several resources. The controller was acting odd. It would sometimes show a voltage to the trailer plug during acceleration and braking even though there was no trailer on it. I did more research and found the blue and white wire under the dash is labeled like it is for the third brake light. Also- it is hot all the time instead of only when pressing the brake pedal. Not sure what to do because I followed every instruction correctly. Find a hot off the brake switch?

It sounds like you have found and connected the correct wire (the blue/white one) from your 2007 Tahoe to the red input wire on your Prodigy P2. This wire should be hot ONLY when the brake pedal is pressed. The same is true for the other vehicle wire that carries a brake signal, the orange wire for the center high mount stop lamp. Both of these should carry a signal only when the brake pedal is pressed.
If both of these wires carry a signal voltage without the brakes engaged then there may be a problem with the stop light switch on the Tahoe. For this you will want to refer the issue to a qualified service facility.
