Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com.Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Taylor Made Aer-O-Buoy life ring. This life preserving ring can be used as a flotation device during a water emergency. It can be thrown up to 40 feet to assist a conscious swimmer in keeping their head up above calm inland water until nearby help can rescue them.This does meet the U.S. and Canadian Coast Guard safety standards. It can be used on recreational or commercial watercraft.

It also is SOLAS approved so it will work with your quick release storage systems. If you want to have this up on a wall out of the way with one of those SOLAS approved storage systems, you can easily get it taken off and thrown out to someone who has fallen overboard.Our outer diameter here is 30 inches so it's going to be nice and big. Easy for someone to find and grab hold of. Our grab lines here are 9-1/2 millimeters or about 3/8 of an inch in diameter. Again, very easy for them to be grabbed onto so that the life raft can help.This is a nice, bright orange color, and it does have these reflective straps here so it's going to be very easy to spot out in the water even in low light conditions.

It's made of a buoyant closed cell foam that's going to keep the life raft afloat without absorbing any of the water. It's got a minimum adult buoyancy of 16-1/2 pounds, which is going to be plenty for most adults. Most adults typically need about 7 to 12 pounds of buoyancy to help them keep their head up out of water.That buoyant closed cell foam is covered with this tough polyurethane shell. That's going to help protect that foam. It resists any damage caused by gasoline, oil, salt water, or pool chemicals.
