Troubleshooting a Convert-A-Ball Adapter # CAB-C5G That Spins on a Trailer King Pin
Question:
When I first had an RV outfit install the gooseneck collar/adapter to my 5th wheel RV, I can almost swear that once tightened, it did not move. Last year I took it to another RV outfit for summerizing and found the gooseneck adapter sideways. I questioned this and he took a sledge hammer and banged the wings of the gooseneck several times until it straightened out. This seemed odd to me. But, off I went. After winterizing it and unhooking it last Fall, I found the gooseneck swiveling rather easily, side to side and almost a full 360 degrees. So, I loosened the holding nuts on the main bolts 3, loosened the three main bolts and retightened the three main bolts and then the nuts on those bolts. When I went to shake it to see if it would swivel, it did exactly as before. I just wasted my time. Is that adapter suppose to swivel after being connected to the ball of my truck? My mind is saying it shouldnt, as it would seem to have no steering control. Hooking onto the ball and locking it in is one thing but, maintaining the RV to turn only when the truck turns is another. Do I need to buy another? Any help here? We do hope to go camping with it an three weeks. Please contact me via: Thank you

It sounds like the inner collar that tightens to your trailer's king pin has come loose and the set screws are allowing it to spin freely around the king pin. The set screws you tightened are what holds the main body of the adapter to the piece that actually attaches to your trailer.
You will want to loosen the set screws of the main body of the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5G, remove it and then re-torque the inner collar set screws that hold it to the king pin.
