Sidewinder Recommendation To replace Fabex 520 Pin Box On Fifth Wheel Trailer
Question:
I have a Fabex 520 box on my 5TH wheel and I need to replace it with one that is 10inch to 12 inch longer so I can do away with my slider hitch. I have a 2014 dodge 3500 mega cab with a 64inch box . Would you have a replacement box that would work... thank you for your time.

We have a few options for your 2014 Dodge. Since most slider fifth wheel hitches can be locked you may not want to replace the fifth wheel. I recommend you replace your pin box with a Sidewinder.
I recommend to replace the Fabex 520 you have with the 5th Airborne Premium 5th Wheel Air Ride King Pin w/ Sidewinder and Turret, part # RP61412. This moves the trailer pivot point an extra 22 inches toward the rear which enables you to make those 90 degree turns. The enclosed air spring in the coupler cushions and absorbs shock.
If you feel you want to replace your fifth wheel hitch my recommendation is the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, part # RP30047. This hitch has dual jaws which provides more king pin contact than slide-bar models. The hitch height is 14-1/2 to 18 inches, and has a gross towing weight capacity of 16,000 lbs. If you need the 20,000 lb version I recommend part # RP30928.
I have attached a helpful article that explains how the Sidewinder works you can check out.
