When you are flat-towing any vehicle there are 5 things needed to complete the setup. You need the base plates mounted on the front of the towed vehicle, the tow bar that is compatible with the base plates, safety chains, wiring for lights on the towed vehicle, and most states not require a supplemental brake system.

We offer two base plate systems for a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. If you let me know who the manufacturer is of the base plates you have for your Trailblazer, I can recommend a system that can work for you with the existing plates.

If you wish to install a new towing system I recommend the Roadmaster Base Plates, part # 3109-1. For the tow bar I recommend RoadMaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar, part # RM-520. This features a quick-disconnect system.

I recommend safety cables like part # RM-643. If you are not planning on towing very often I recommend the Magnetic LED Tow Lights, part # TLL21RK. These lights have magnetic bases and will hold firmly to any metal surface, while the wiring runs beneath the vehicle.

For a supplemental brake system I recommend the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System, part # RM-9400. This system is one of the easiest to install and use. The brake system works in direct proportion to the brakes from the towing vehicle when they are applied.

I have attached a couple of helpful articles you can check out.
