According to page 4-47 in the online version of the owner's manual for a 2008 Chevy Tahoe you do not have to install a transmission pump to flat tow the vehicle. I do recommend checking your copy of the owner's manual to verify this.

For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter.

The base plate kit that I recommend going with is the Demco Classic # DM9518200 which comes with covers to give you a clean look when you aren't towing your Tahoe.

Then for a tow bar I recommend the Dominator Non-Binding Tow Bar # DM9511008 because it reduces the need for a high-low adapter (because of how the head can be adjusted), comes with safety cables, and is rated for 7,500 lbs so there is a safety margin with your vehicle.

I really like the Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 when it comes to a flat towing setup because after the initial installation it is very easy to set up when you get ready to tow your Tahoe. Simply plug the connections into your motorhome and the front of the Tahoe and you are good to go!

The fixed braking systems from SMI are definitely the route to go because they provide a proportional braking system which reduces stress on the towed vehicle and motorhome plus they stay installed on your vehicle and you hardly notice that they are even there due to the hidden installation process. If your motorhome has air brakes then you want part # SM99243 but for hydraulic brakes part # SM99251 is the way to go.

A lot of flat towing setups might require the use of a high-low adapter to keep the tow bar level while towing a vehicle. I have linked a helpful article for you to reference to see if this applies to you. If it does then I have also linked our selection of adapters for you to filter through.

Attached are some review videos and helpful articles for you to reference as well.
