Do Access Holes on 2014 Subaru Impreza Hatchback Frame Need to be Enlarged for All Trailer Hitches

Question:

I noticed that, on the 2014 Subaru Impreza 5-door, that many customers had to expand the holes in the subframe to allow for the Curt trailer receiver to be installed. Does this trailer hitch require that as well? If it does require it, do you sell a trailer hitch that does not require altering the subframe?

On any of the trailer hitches for the 2014 Subaru Impreza hatchback with single exhaust you may need to enlarge access holes in order to install the hitches. Draw-Tite trailer hitch # DT24959 is the same way. Enlarging an access holes is fairly easy using a file, drill, or rotary tool of some kind. The holes normally do not have to be enlarged very much at all if they even need it.

If you plan on doing some towing then I also recommend ball mount # 3593. It includes a pin and clip. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. And for trailer wiring use # 118573 (excluding WRX and WRX STi) or # 119250KIT (WRX and WRX STi). I have linked videos and isntructions for the trailer hitch and wiring for you.
