To flat tow a vehicle, you'll need a hitch on the motor home, a towbar, a base plate kit installed on the tow vehicle, a tow bar wiring kit so that the taillights on the vehicle work along with those on the motor home, safety cables and a supplemental braking system.

You'll also need to determine if your vehicle is capable of being flat towed, or if it must be modified in some way in order to flat tow it safely.

I'll link you to some of our help articles about flat towing. If you could reply with the year, make and model of the vehicle you are wishing to flat tow, I'd be happy to make some more specific recommendations for you.

I have a Newmar Baystar 3210 and want to tow my 2018 F-150. Budge conscious. What is the least expensive tow bar I can get away with, base plates as well a brake system for inside f150.

The Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 is a nice budget friendly option without being "cheap" that will work well for your F-150. For a compatible base plate kit the Roadmaster # RM-524431-4 is perfect. Then for a braking system I really like the Brake Buddy Classic # HM39494 and for lighting you can use the Diode Kit # RM-15267.

I have a 2003 Coachmen Catalina Sport Motorhome Ford E450. I would like to buy a 2007 Ford Fusion SE- 3.0 v6 with automatic transmission. I want to flat tow it. Can I tow this car since it has an automatic transmission? I want a vehicle tow bar and the light package. Would this work for me?Thank You

According to the owner's manual for the 2007 Ford Fusion, models with the automatic transmission cannot be flat towed with all 4 wheels on the ground. If it's the FWD model, you can use a tow dolly like # DM9713045. If it's the AWD model it needs to be put onto a trailer (with no wheels on the ground). When searching for a good flat tow vehicle, I definitely recommend talking with the dealer, explaining to him/her exactly what you're wanting to do, and looking through the owner's manual before making any purchase.

@ChrisR Looking at the Leisure Van Unity Class B with a 5000 lb tow capacity. I have a 2019 Infinity QX30 Luxe. It is not AWD. Can this vehicle be modified to be flat towed? And, if so, what modifications will it need?

@ChrisL From what I could find in the online version of the owner's manual it looks like you can use a tow dolly to tow your 2019 Infiniti QX30 behind your motorhome. I really like the KarKaddy SS # DM9713045 if you want to go this route. I'm not sure what kind of modifications you'd have to do to flat tow it with all 4 wheels on the ground. I'd speak with a dealer and/or a shop that is able to do something like that to see what all that would entail.
