According to the online copy of your Owner's Manual (page 316-317), only 4WD vehicles with a two-speed transfer case that have a Neutral and a 4-Low setting can be towed four wheels down. Please refer to the prescribed "Dingy Towing" procedures outlined in your Owner's Manual.

It also states that the negative battery cable must be disconnected and not touch the terminals. However, we recommend installing an Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch # RM-766.

The Automatic Battery Disconnect needs to be installed on the positive side of the battery so that the battery can still power certain aftermarket components, such as supplemental braking systems, needed for flat towing while cutting power to the OEM components. Some RVers also choose to run a charge line from their motorhome to their flat towed vehicle's battery while towing. Neither of these scenarios would work if the negative battery cable was disconnected during towing.

Generally, vehicle manufacturers suggest removing the negative battery cable for safety reasons. Using hand tools to remove the positive battery cable without first disconnecting the negative battery cable can result in sparks flying if the tool simultaneously makes contact with the positive battery terminal and a ground location, such as the vehicle frame. the # RM-766 allows you to avoid this dangerous situation and safely disconnect the battery with the simple flip of a switch.
