According to what I've read in the owner's manual, your Edge can indeed be flat towed if the specific procedures listed in the manual are followed precisely.
To flat tow your Edge, hook up to the motorhome then press and hold the brake to the floor. Start the vehicle and shift into Neutral with the brake pedal still pressed then turn off the vehicle. On a keyless start equipped vehicle, push the keyless start button one to shut off. If the vehicle has an ignition key, turn the vehicle off by turning the ignition key past the accessory position. The key position is between the accessory and off positions. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. A quick disconnect is available as part # RM-766.
The manual goes on to say that you should not exceed 65 mph while flat towing and that the battery terminal should be reconnected and the engine ran at the beginning of each day for at least 5 minutes. Repeat every 6 hours. With the engine running and your foot on the brake, shift the transmission into drive, then reverse before returning it to neutral.
To flat tow, you'll need a tow bar, base plates, safety cables, a wiring solution, a supplemental braking system and possibly a high/low adpater.
For a tow bar, I'll typically recommend the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, part # RM-522. The Falcon AT is self aligning and non-binding which allows you to hitch up your vehicle even if the terrain isn't perfectly flat and the car isn't perfectly lined up behind the motorhome. For base plates, go with # RM-524444-5 unless your vehicle has the adaptive cruise control, in which case you'd use # RM-524454-5. For safety cables, use # RM-643.
For wiring, use # DM9523010-54. For a braking system, you can use a portable system like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR which won't require expensive labor to install and can be easily transferred from vehicle to vehicle. A 12-volt outlet directly wired to the battery, # RM-9332 would also be needed. If you plan on hanging onto the vehicle for a number of years you can use a permanently installed system like the the Roadmaster Invisibrake, part # RM-8700. For this option, a stoplight switch, part # RM-751475 is needed.
According to Roadmaster, when installed, the base plates would be 17 inches above the ground. If the receiver height of your motorhome isn't within 3 inches plus or minus of that height, you'll need a high/low adapter. I'll link you to our selection of adapters.
