Class III Hitch Fit and Appearance on 2014 Honda CR-V

Question:

I have a 2014 Honda CRV, and am trying to decide between the Draw-Tite 75742 and the Curt 13119. One of my bigger concerns is profile while not towing. it seems from the pictures on your site that the DrawTite has a slightly less visible profile, it looks like maybe the tubular steel is a bit smaller circumference. Can you confirm this? Id like to have it appear as discreet as possible. Thanks

The two 2-inch Class III trailer hitches you referenced, Curt # C13119 and Draw-Tite # 75742, both use a round cross tube design and once installed both will reside in essentially the exact same location under the rear bumper. There is only one location on any given vehicle for a hitch to be attached and both hitches will bolt up in the same place. Both include the required installation hardware and both will require trimming or removal of the under-body panel beneath the vehicle.

In terms of appearance there will be little if any difference between the two hitches since both must install such that the receiver tube opening is located just under the bumper cover.

There are two notable differences between these hitches: the Draw-Tite # 75742 has a higher-rated tongue weight capacity at 525-lbs (while the Curt # C13119 is rated for 350-lbs tongue weight); and the Curt hitch, when used with non-trailer loads (those that have no wheels), is recommended by Curt to be supported with a stabilizing strap # 18050. The Draw-Tite does not have this requirement.

Install videos for both hitches are included along with several informational articles on hitches and their installation.
