Hitch Extender to Use a Bike Rack With a 2014 Nissan Rogue and Curt Class III Trailer Hitch
Question:
I purchased the hitch for my 2014 rogue to put my bike rack I think I need a hitch extender what sure do you recommend,

Expert Reply:
The use of an extender is going to reduce the trailer hitch tongue weight capacity by 50 percent. For Curt trailer hitch # C13204 for your 2014 Nissan Rogue that means that the capacity will be reduced from 350 pounds to 175 pounds. The combined weight of the bike rack and bikes cannot exceed 175 pounds.
To determine if an extender is even needed you can measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on the bike rack back to the nearest part of the rack that would make contact with the vehicle. If that distance is greater than 8-1/4 inches then you would not need an extender.
If an extender is needed using # HE06 will give you an additional 7 inches. I have linked a video review of the extender for you.
