Adding a 5-Way Adapter to a 2010 Lincoln MKX to Tow a Boat Trailer with Electric Reverse Lockout
Question:
I need to connect a 5 pole harness to pull my boat trailer with surge brakes. Nobody makes a 5 pole harness for this vehilcle and Lincoln does not recommend any splicing. I have considered installing a 4 pole to 5 pole adapter but I have had mixed responses on this being possible. What is the best way to get a 5 pole installed in this vehicle.

You mentioned Lincoln stating not to splice in any wires on your 2010 Lincoln MKX. But if a Lincoln technician does the installation they might let you do it and you could use # 119177KIT which is a 5-Way converter.
The other option is to use an adapter such as # 20036. You would have to use the included quick splice connector on a reverse light wire on the vehicle to use the adapter.
Another option to check into is to see if Lincoln offers a 7-Way connector for your vehicle that they can install. Then you could use a 7-Way to 5-Way adapter, # A75TB.
