I have spoken with my contacts at Curt Manufacturing, and their Class III trailer hitch # C13135 is confirmed as a fit for your 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid as long as it has a single exhaust.
This is a Class III rated hitch, that is has a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds and have a tongue weight of 525 pounds. Please note that Curt recommends the use of their Stabilizing strap # 18050 for all non-trailering loads.
Please check your owners manual to make sure that your vehicle is rated for towing, and what the towing rating, and tongue weight capacities of your vehicle are compared to this hitch. It is always recommended to comply with the lowest rated component in your towing system.
If you are going to be using this hitch for towing, you may be interested in the ball mount kit # 989900, and the T-One style wiring harness # C56040.
I have included links to the parts referenced above, and several videos for your reference.
