Recommended Hitch for a 2011 Subaru Outback
Question:
I have a hitch on my 2011 Subaru Outback and thought it would fit but had a guy who installed it looked at it at tell me it has smaller bolts so I would need a conversion kit with different bolts to fit. Is that correct?

That sounds pretty sketchy. Never heard of a conversion kit with bolts that will make a hitch fit a car it's not designed for.
The hitch you were looking at Item # 306-X7267 only fits the 2015 - 2018 Subaru Outback so using different sized bolts isn't going to help when the holes don't line up. If this isn't what you have and would like to send me a part number so I can verify it'll fit you can either email me directly or post it in the comment box below.
For a similar style hitch that has been designed for the 2011 Subaru Outback, I recommend the etrailer item # e42TR.
