Recommended Power Supply for Bulldog Electric Single Speed Jack # BD1824200100 Used on Horse Trailer
Question:
I am installing the electric Jack on my horse trailer. Driving a 2011 Ford F-250. Trying to determine the best power supply. The trailer does not have a battery today. Will you give me your thoughts on the battery size, amps, etc. In addition, do I need to install a solenoid between the battery and the truck 12v power supply? Thanks.

When using the Bulldog Powered-Drive Jack, # BD1824200100, I would recommend using a separate 12V Deep Cycle Battery to power the jack.
Any deep cycle battery should have more than enough amps to power the jack and any lights that you would have on your horse trailer. I would recommend using a battery box to protect the battery from the elements. I have provided a link to the battery boxes that we currently carry.
Using a Battery Isolator Solenoid like, # PK5231201, is not required, but would certainly be a good idea if the 12V pin on the 7 way connector remains hot when your 2011 Ford F-250 is not running. You will want to use a circuit tester or volt meter to determine this. If the pin remains hot, installing the solenoid will prevent the battery on the truck from being inadvertently discharged.
