Brake Controller Recommendation for 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited That Has 7-Way Connector
Question:
I have a 7pin connector hooked up on my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and its all wired up with the exception of the blue wire that goes to the controller. Im looking for a controller that will work with my Jeep. Is there a plug and play wiring harness that I can install and simply connect the blue wire to it? All I need is the brake controller and the power harness for it but Im not sure which one to get. Looking for recommendations?

Among the most popular and highly rated trailer brake controllers we offer is the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. This unit offers reliability, ease of use and the flexibility to be used with both electric and electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes. Since it is a proportional-type controller (rather than a time-delayed type) it will help avoid excessive wear on your Wrangler's brakes. The linked article will explain further.
There is no quick-connect harness to install this unit in your Wrangler so you will do a hard-wire installation.

Since you indicate that your 7-way is fully wired already with the exception of the brake controller output signal (generally carried by a blue wire to the pin at the 5-o-clock position - see photo) you will just need to install the controller in the passenger compartment and run the output signal to the 7-way.
You will need a 20-amp circuit breaker (part # 9506P) installed in the engine compartment in the 12V feed to the P2. The breaker connects between the battery and the controller's black power input wire. You can use 10-gauge wire # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot). The remaining wires from the P2 pigtail harness, white, blue and red, connect as follows. The white ground wire connects to your battery negative terminal. The red wire from the P2 harness connects to the cold side of the brake light switch, the side that carries voltage ONLY when the pedal is pressed. You can use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to find the cold side of the brake light switch. Last, the blue output wire from the controller connects to the pin on your 7-way.
You can use butt connectors # 05732-2 to make the wiring connections.
