Gooseneck Wiring Extension # # C56070 - Can The Plug Be Mounted Closer To The Cab?

Hello, quick question how far towards the cab can the female end of the 7’ extension be installed on a 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 double cab

Hey Neil, that is an interesting question. The recommended install location for the female end of the # C56070 extension is driver side between the rear post and the wheel well. That said, the # C56070 extension that you were looking at is 7' long, so depending on bed length, it may be possible to locate the plug closer to the cab.

We have never taken one and stretched it to see how far it will go though, so I am afraid I cannot give you an exact location. I imagine that if there were no obstructions, it would be possible to mount the plug in front if the driver side wheel well. Although I will say, it is really not something we can recommend doing.

On that note we do also offer a 10' long extension # C56000. The extra length would probably make it a bit easier to mount the female end closer to the cab.
