Will 12" Wheels Fit Disc Brakes on Trailer
Question:
Hello, I have tandem axle boat trailer with 14 wheels 5-4.5 bolt pattern on 205 75 14 tires. The rear wheels have disc brakes with calipers. I am wondering if I could fit a 12 wheel on these hubs. It appears that the current 14 wheels have approximately 1.25 inches of clearance from the inside of the rim to the brake calipers. If not a 12 wheel, would a 13 wheel work? I am not concerned about tires as these temporary wheels will be utilized to only the trailer to allow clearance into my garage. Thank you!

The only way you're getting a 12" wheel like # AM20153 on there is if you have a 2,000 lb axle and an 8" hub/rotor like the # KOD27FR. More than likely you have a 10" hub/rotor with a 3,500 lb axle. If that is the case, it will still depend on the style and brand of disc brakes that you have.
For example, the Kodiak # KOD67FR can fit a 13" wheel like the # AM20245. The Dexter # T2HRCM10DAC works with 14" and 15" wheels. The Kodiak # K2R35D with a slip-on rotor also only works with 14" or larger. I recommend better identifying your brakes so you can determine which wheel size is compatible. What I would do is call the trailer manufacturer and give them the VIN number to see what brakes they installed when they built the trailer.
