Recommended Brake Controller And Wiring Installation Kit For 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
Question:
I have a 2006 Jeep Laredo without a tow package. I installed an aftermarket receiver and purchased the 4-way wiring kit from you guys to connect my previous trailer. This weekend I purchased a new trailer and it has a 7-way switch and the trailer has brakes. I would like to install a break controller on my jeep but like I said does not have a tow package. Do you offer a 7-way switch with break controller for my jeep?

For your 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with no tow package, I recommend the Tekonsha Brake Controller, part # 90885, if your trailer has electric or electric over hydraulic brakes. This is a proportional brake controller that activates the trailer brakes in proportion to the braking action on your Grand Cherokee.
Since you have installed the 4-way connector on your vehicle you can install the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller, part # ETBC7 to complete the wiring for your trailer. It comes with a mounting bracket to secure the included 7-way connector and also comes with the hardware needed. If longer wire is needed I recommend part # 10-2-1. This is additional by-the-foot jacketed 10 gauge 2-wire that can help complete the wiring.
When making electrical connections I also recommend the dielectric grease, part # 11755. This helps keep moisture out of the electrical connections and prevents corrosion.
I have attached some links to helpful articles that explains brake controllers and also an installation of a brake controller while using the # ETBC7 kit. I have also included a drawing that shows where the wires are to be run from the 7-way connector included in the kit.
