What is the Best Automatic Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch for a 2024 Ford F-250

Question:

I am trying to nail down a slider fifth wheel hitch for a 2024 f250 gas, 6 1/2 ft bed, max towing 19k, max payload, 3200#, fifth wheel GVWR 12k, hitch weight 2000#. I am thinking of an automatic slider hitch. What are my options? Thanks

Hey Earl, thanks for reaching out!

There are two main competitors for the top spot of automatic 5th wheel hitches; the Demco Hijacker and the PullRite SuperGlide. While we only carry the Hijacker, I've looked into the SuperGlide enough that I can point out the main differences and why the Hijacker edges past the SuperGlide.

Both options feature 14" of sliding clearance and can be installed in either OEM puck systems or industry standard rails (ISR), but there are the main differences that you'll be interested in:

- The Hijacker has 3 different hitch height settings while the SuperGlide has one, and you need to purchase a separate leg kit for more height
- The Hijacker comes with standard capture brackets and only needs a specialized capture plate for unique pin boxes while the SuperGlide requires a separate capture for any pin box
- The Hijacker has a single jaw system that's reinforced with a 3/4" steel pin and the king pin is centered with the small stationary jaw piece, while the SuperGlide has a simple yet effective single jaw system

Aside from these key features both hitches are very similar in both functions, quality, and reputation. However, I do recommend the Hijacker since it has more to offer. Here are the parts you'll need to get this installed on your 2024 Ford F-250:

- Demco Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails # DM72GV
- Demco Autoslide 18K # DM8550022 OR 21K # DM8550037 (in case you want to future proof the hitch for larger 5th wheels)
