Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For A 1999 Toyota Prado RHD
Question:
I have a 1999 Toyota Prado RHD and wish to fit a tow hitch for a boat trailer. In your option list for Toyota the Prado model is not listed, only the Land Cruiser which has a significantly different chassis. I believe that the Toyota 4 Runner has the same chassis as the Prado and if so, will a 4 Runner hitch kit fit? I live in the Cayman Islands and the Toyota agent here is unable to assist.

Hi Colin,
Since there isn't a confirmed fitting custom-fit hitch for a 1999 Toyota Prado RHD the only option would be to install a weld-on adjustable-fit trailer hitch. We haven't had a Prado in to test it for a fit with a 4Runner trailer hitch unfortunately. We have a few different sizes depending on the drop you'll need to clear the rear fascia:
Draw-Tite
7" Drop # 41990-07
16" Drop # 41990-16
Curt
3" Drop # 15901
9" Drop # C47CR
10.865" Drop # 15902
11-1/2" Drop # 15903
18" Drop # C99CR
These will fit an 18" to 44" wide frame width and any excess can just be trimmed off of the crosstube.
