Will Trailer Towing With 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Interfere With Backup Assist
Question:
Hi, Im looking at trailer hitches for a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Touring L modle and what like to know if a trailer is is installed will I have problems with the back-up assist feature. I know the 2017 Volvo V90 needed a software ware download so the car knew a trailer was attached. What this be the same for the Pacifica?

Installing a hitch like the etrailer # e98903 and towing a trailer with your 2021 Pacifica will likely interfere with the backup assist feature. Unless you already have an option to tell the computer you're towing a trailer it will see the trailer as an object that is in the way.
You may be able to simply disable it temporarily so the warnings cease. The Pacifica does have a factory tow package option so you may also be able to get the dealer to update the software for trailer detection, but you will need to check with your local dealer to see if this is possible.
In addition to the trailer hitch you will also need wiring. The Curt # C56322 is the correct wiring harness for the Touring L model. This plugs into the connection points behind your tail lights. Once installed, you will have a 4-way to power your trailer's signal lights.
If you ended up installing the Stealth Hitch on your Volvo V90 you will also need a separate ball mount for this setup. Check out the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches # C45534. This comes with a ball mount, 2" ball, locking hitch pin, and a storage case.
