Will Progressive Dynamics Replacement Section Charge Batteries With Engine On

Question:

Does this converter charge the house battery lithium when the vehicles engine is on? With the house battery disconnected, I put a voltage meter in the positive and negative cables with the engine on. I do get voltage but it is only 12.9, shouldn’t it be 13.6 for agm and 14.3 for lithium? Changing the pitching / agm pin on the converter doesn’t seem to change the voltage. This is on a 2008 Winnebago view.

Expert Reply:

The Progressive Dynamics Replacement Section for AC/DC Power Distribution Panel # PD4645V will only charge the batteries with shore power. You won't be able to charge your house battery from the engine. This is compatible with Parallax/Magnetek model 6345, WFCO model 8945, and Parallax models 7345 and 8345. The reason you're only getting 12V is because that is the voltage from your alternator.
