Recommended Swing-Away Bike Rack For A 2013 Kia Sportage With 3 Bikes
Question:
i’m trying to find a bike rack that will fit on my Kia Sportage. It’s a 2 inch hitch connection. I want to be able to carry two kids bikes, and one adult women’s bike. Ideally, it should lock, be secure, and swing away to allow me to open the trunk. It needs to extend out like eight or 9 inches to clear the back of the car. I am exhausted trying to find the right thing.

Since you need to haul three bikes and would like a swing-away function to clear your 2013 Kia Sportage's rear hatch I recommend the Yakima FullSwing Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # Y02465. It has a 2" shank and comes with a swing-away hinge to move the bikes to the passenger side of the vehicle for full access of the vehicle. It has a knob on the front that you'll turn to lock the shank in place in the trailer hitch and prevent it from rattling and making a bunch of noise.
IT comes with 4 cradles to hold your bikes, but you might need a frame adapter # 64005 in order to mount each bike since this is a hanging style bike rack and kid/women's bikes typically have an angled frame. A built in cable lock will make securing your bikes to the rack fast and easy. Since this is a hanging rack I do also recommend picking up some velcro strips from your local hardware store and securing the front wheel to the frame of the bike to prevent it from wagging side-to-side while you're driving.
I've attached a short video below where Hayden will show you how this rack works.
