Recommended Wire Harnesses For Installing A Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty In A 2022 Subaru Forester
Question:
I am going to install a trailer hitch including a break controller onto a 2022 Subaru Foster. I have presently ed the tow-pro liberty brake controller RED24FR and the E-trailer hitch receiver E83ZR. What do you suggest as far as the wiring connections? Thanks,

The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e83ZR and Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR are both great options for your 2022 Subaru Forester. Before you install the Liberty you'll need to first install a 4-pole trailer wire harness like the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118467. Once installed you can then install a 7-way # ETBC7 and run your wire into the cab for the brake controller.
To install the Liberty you'll also need the Universal Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers # RED69FR as well as an in-line fuse # 331-CBK30-EB. This wire harness will wire in the following manner:
White - Ground
Black - 12v power (with in-line fuse)
Red - Cold side of the brake light switch
Blue - Brake output wire running to 7-way
To find the cold side of the brake light switch you'll need a tester # PTW2993 and you'll check each wire coming off of the brake pedal until you find the one that only has power when the brake pedal is being depressed. If you have any other questions then just let me know and I'd be happy to help.
