Will Coiled Adapter 7-Way to 5-Flat Adapter part # HM47025 Work on a Boat Trailer with Surge Brakes

Question:

I too pull a boat with a 5 pin flat connector, but just bought a truck with a round 7 pin flat connector. What are my options in wiring. This cable looks great, but will not work from what I read. I just purchased a2012 toyota tundra pulling a 2500# bout with the 5 pin flat connected that is to brake when the truck brakes, but disengage when truck is in reverse for the boat ramp. Thanks in advance for any help.

The Hopkins Heavy-Duty Trailer Coiled Wire Adapter 7-Way to 5-Way Flat with Nite-Glow # HM47025 WILL work for you as long as the reverse light circuit is active on the 7-way of your 2012 Toyota Tundra (it should work).

The reviewer you referenced unfortunately was confused on what this product does. Since one end of this adapter only has 5 circuits then there is no way 7 circuits could possibly be carried through the adapter. Since you have surge brakes those additional 2 circuits would not be necessary for you since they are for an electric brake controller circuit and a 12 volt accessory circuit.
