Recommended Flat Towing Parts for a 2023 GMC Canyon

Question:

Hi, I am thinking about purchasing a 2023 GMC AT4 or AT4X that I would like to tow behind a RV. It looks like you loose the front tow hooks on the truck when mounting the base plates. As the truck will also be used off road I want to keep the tow hooks. Is there a tow set up that keeps the tow hooks on the truck? Thanks.

No, the tow hooks come off no matter what brand of base plate you use. This is extremely common amongst all trucks with flat towing set ups. That's a solid anchor point and attaching a base plate there hides it extremely well. You're going to want to stay away from the AT4X if you goal is to flat tow a 2023 GMC Canyon. None of the base plates work with that model. They make these trucks right next to our shop and the front ends on them look amazing but the base plates aren't compatible.

Here are the parts I recommend you use to set up a 2023 GMC Canyon to be flat towed:

Tow Bar and Safety Chains - Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar item # RM-520 and item # RM-643

Base Plate Kit - Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms item # RM48GR

Battery Disconnect - Roadmaster Battery Disconnect with Switch item # RM-766

Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267

Supplemental Braking System - SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System item # SM99251 or item # SM99243 if your motorhome has air brakes

High Low Adapter - The tow bar needs to be within 3" of level. If you measure the height of the inside top of the hitch receiver tube on your RV, and the height difference is more than 3 inches above/below the base plate tab height, you'll need a high/low adapter. I have linked a FAQ article that explains all this in more detail along with our selection of adapters.
