4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 5,000-lb Trailer Axles vs. 5-Leaf For 6,000 lb Axles

Question:

I am building a single axel trailer, it will be a 6foot x 10foot flat bed /w a 6000# axel. I am comparing the 2500# 4 leaf, with the 2500# 5 leaf. Is ride stiffness the only thing that I have to consider? Or will the 5 leaf hold up better. Thanks P.S., It will be mainly used for hauling firewood.

I'm not seeing both a 4-leaf and 5-leaf spring for a 5,000 lb axle, were you possibly referring to the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 5,000-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/4" Long # e44SR or 5-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/4" Long # e34SR?

If so, rise stiffness and capacity is just what you have to consider (assuming these are the proper length). You said a 6k axle, so if that's the capacity of your trailer, and you plan on hauling that much, go with the higher-rated 6k. But if you plan on hauling 5,000 lbs or less, then the 6k won't offer you anything but a stiffer ride.
