Can I Switch From Load Range C To D On Utility Trailer With ST205/75R15 Tires?

Question:

I have a 3500 lb sa utility trailer I use to haul a sxs. Looking to replace the tires. They are st205/75r15 load range C. Would I benefit by going to a load range D for peace of mind or is that overkill? Thank you.

Expert Reply:

You can upgrade from the Load Range C # AM10244 to the Load Range D # AM10245 ST205/75R15 tires if that gives you peace of mind. I do like to mention since the load range D is going to have a stiffer sidewall you may notice your trailer bounces more than it previously did since the tires also act as shock absorbers on most trailers. You may be able to also install either the Underslung # TSS-106-40 or Overslung # TSS-107-40 SumoSprings if the bounce concerns you based on the cargo you typically carry.
