Assisted Kayak Carrier Solution for 2020 Kia Sportage

Question:

Malones fit guide for my 2020 Kia Sprortage lists their Sea Wing as an approved fit for my vehicle. It does not show the the Sea Wing with Stinger as a fit. The issue is the distance from my rear crossbar in ithe most rearward position to the end of the roof is 28 inches while the Stinger extends up to 25” back from the center of the rear crossbar to protect your vehicle and safely load the kayak. Anything I could do to allow my kayak to lay on the end of the roof as I lift it onto and then later off off the stinger?

I checked with Malone and they do have their SeaWing kayak carrier as a fit for your 2020 Kia Sportage but they don't list the version with the Load Assist part # MPG113MD. It doesn't look like they have this version in their fitguide separately but it is a fit since the SeaWing is a fit and only difference is the load assist. The load assist may not be quite as helpful as you are wanting so a different route might be worth taking.

The Thule Hullavator part # TH898 is a really great assisted loading option but it does require an aftermarket roof rack like the Rhino Rack part # RRVA126B-2 and # RRSX023 that fits your Sportage. The Hullavator allows you to load the kayak about waist high and then using gas assisted struts push it the rest of the way up without much effort.
