Troubleshooting "Service Trailer Brake System" Error Message After Installing Prodigy P3

Question:

I installed a prodigy 3 on my 2007.5 chevy 2500hd. New controller works fine but I still get a service trailer brake system message on the dash. Am I supposed to disconnect the harness behind the dash or do I remove the ITBS fuse under the hood to remove the message on the dash

The most common reason you might see a service trailer brake system message on your dashboard is due to a blown fuse, a bad brake light switch, or a bad trailer brake control switch. It can also occur due to faulty wiring. Generally the message will display when there is a problem with the ITBS. If this message continues over multiple ignition cycles, there is a problem with the ITBS. You can try removing the ITBS fuse to see if that resolves the issue. If not you will need to get the vehicle serviced.
