Replacement Magnet For Dexter 3,500 lb Electric Brakes
Question:
I have 20k on my current Dexter 3500lb electric brakes. The magnet on the Heavy side of my trailer needs replacing. Only one wear indicator is left. The Light side is fine. Would one side of the trailer being heavier than the other actually cause the magnets to wear more on that side? Follow up... How much grooving on the face of the Hub is acceptable where the magnet meets the hub? Cheers

Expert Reply:
Having a significantly heavier side of the trailer could cause some additional wear, yes, as it would be working a bit harder, but unless it was quite a lot then it shouldn't be a big issue. As for grooves, there should not be any type of grooves it should be smooth.
As for the replacement magnet for your 3,500 lb Dexter electric brakes the correct part is the Replacement Trailer Brake Magnet Kit # BP01-110.
