Can 2011 Kia Soul with Draw-Tite Class I Hitch # 24839 Tow a 5 x 8-Foot Trailer
Question:
I recently purchased this very same item thinking I can tow a trailer about 5x8... my question is is it safe for me to tow that size trailer with my Kia Soul 2011 with this hitch? I know I need a raised adapter to give it a 17inch clearance from the ground to the ball. But will my car be able to handle the trailer?

The Draw-Tite hitch you referenced, part # 24839, is indeed a correct fit for your 2011 Kia Soul. This light-duty Class I hitch has a 1-1/4-inch receiver opening. I have linked an installation video for this hitch on your same model year Soul.
For some vehicles hitches are available to enable use of accessory items such as bike racks and cargo baskets, but the availability of a hitch for any given vehicle does not necessarily mean that vehicle is suitable for towing a trailer. According to my research the Kia Soul is not rated for towing. Your owners manual may have other indications or you might speak to a local dealership for confirmation, but unless you can verify the vehicle is rated by the manufacturer for towing I do not recommend doing so.
If you do intend to tow you will need in addition to the hitch receiver a ball mount, hitch ball, pin and clip, and a wiring harness. I have included a link to our page for ball mounts where you can select one with the appropriate amount of rise or drop to keep your hitched trailer level. For a pin and clip you can use part # PC2. A second link will let you select a hitch ball with the proper size ball to match the trailer coupler.
Last, you will need to select a wiring harness for your Soul to allow its lighting functions to be transmitted to those on the trailer. A link is provided for you to select either LED or non-LED vehicle lights at the drop-down menu to view appropriate wiring harnesses.
