Recommended Replacement Pin Box For A LIppert Road Armour To Reduce Chucking And Road Shock

Question:

We would like to replace our Lippert Road Armour king pin (1621 bolt pattern) with one that eliminates the road shock and chucking. Its like an earthquake in the 5th wheel every time we travel. Do you have any suggestions? We tow 11k to 14k lbs fully loaded.

Since you have a 1621 bolt pattern and you're having both chucking and road shock issues the best replacement for you is going to be the Curt Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box - Lippert 1621 # LC328492. This pin box features a pivoting head to help reduce chucking and has an internal air spring and shock to help absorb shock when riding on rough roads. There isn't a set psi for the air spring so you'll want to start around 5-10 psi and drive around and see how it feels, adding more air in 5 psi increments until you're happy with the ride quality.

Upgraded pin boxes can make a world of difference but there are also shocks/cushioning springs that can be added to your trailer's suspension to prevent the road shock from travelling up to the pin box and then on to the truck. If you're interested in this I'll need to know how many axles you have, their capacity, and whether or not your leaf spring sit above or below the axles.
