How to Pick Out a Weight Distribution System for a 26 Aerolite Trailer Behind a 2010 Toyota Tundra
Question:
Towing a 26 foot aerolite 5000 pounds dry weight, 580 pound tongue weight with a 2010 Toyota tundra crew cab TRD. Looking to purchase either the equal-i-zer or fastway E2 hitch. We are wondering if the 600 pound fastway E2 would be too light or the 800 pound would be too stiff causing the trailer to bounce. Same applies to the equal-i-zer 600 or 1000 pound. Any insight on the best option would be appreciated.

I have a recommendation for you, but we currently are phasing out our line of Equl-i-zer and Fastway weight distribution systems and will not be carrying there systems soon. The best way to determine what the correct weight distribution system would be for you to base it off of the LOADED tongue weight of the setup. The figures you listed are dry figures so its hard to use that information because your setup will have higher figures than that when loaded.
The Strait-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66083 would be an excellent choice if your loaded figures were the same as the dry figures you listed since the dry tongue weight falls right in the middle of the tongue weight range this system is good for.
Most likely you would need the next step up in weight ranges. For that I would recommend the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66084.
I attached an FAQ on determining tongue weight and weight distribution for you to check out also.
