Will Swagman Original 3 Bike Folding Towing Bike Rack Fit 2004 Honda Element

Question:

I am trying to buy an older model of your 64600 without the S in front and want to make sure it will fit. The product description says it wont fit a rack that is specifically for a 2inch hitch bar I believe the 64600 model is 2inch only. Just wanted to make sure.

The Swagman Original 3 Bike Folding Towing Bike Rack, part # S64600, can work on your 2004 Honda Element if you have a Class lll hitch with a 2 inch receiver opening. We put the S in front of the number to designate that it is a Swagman product.

I have attached a photo of the # S64600 and pointed out the bolts that secure the carrier to the ball mount shank. The carrier requires at least 10 inches between the center of the hitch pin hole and the center of the ball hole for mounting.

You will want to check with your owners manual or with your dealership to find out what the towing weight capacity is for your Element. The trailer hitch tongue weight capacity is reduced by the combined weight of the bike rack and the bikes when towing.

If you have a Class lll hitch with a 2 inch receiver and you determine you will need a longer shank on the ball mount, I recommend a ball mount like part # BM20. This ball mount measures 13-1/4 inches between the hitch pin hole and the ball hole. I have also attached a photo that shows a ball mount with the support angle welded to the shank for strength. The bike carrier may not work if your ball mount looks similar to this. Part # BM20 does not have that extra welded angle so the carrier should work with it just fine.
