You will need 3 basic components, the frame brackets, bed rails and the fifth wheel itself. The frame brackets bolt to the frame underneath the bed. The bed rails sit in the bed and attach to the brackets on the frame through the bed. The fifth wheel then sits in the rails and is held in with 4 pins.
The bracket and rail kit for a 2001 Ford F-250 8 Ft. Bed is part # RP50082-58. You would then choose a fifth wheel according to the total weight of the trailer and the load inside the trailer.
The Reese Elite series uses an under bed rail system so there are no rails in the bed of the truck.
I will include a link to the page that shows all of the fifth wheels and brackets we carry for your 2001 Ford F-250. I will also include a link to a fifth wheel being installed on a 2008 F-250 that uses the same parts so you can get an idea of how it is done. I will also provide a link to the instructions for the brackets for your truck.
