Issues that Might Cause Furrion Chill RV AC Unit to Short Cycle

Question:

I recently converted my Dometic penguin 2 ac unit to a furrion chill unit. I removed the dometic control board and had to hard wire the new unit to the pig tail because the penguin 2 board is not a plug style like the conversion kit is make for. All three fan speeds work and the compressor kicks on but will shut the full system down about 30 seconds after it starts. I referenced both wiring diagram for wiring the new unit to the control board. Is there a reason the system would be short cycling?

There are a couple of reasons why the Furrion Chill Premium RV Air Conditioner System # FACR15SA-BL may be short cycling. While it could be a faulty unit or thermostat, often times the issue can be air blowing at the thermostat; when the thermostat senses cold air, it will turn on and off quickly - short cycling. If you can re-direct the air to not blow right on or near the thermostat that may resolve the issue.

Also try running just the fan as this can also resolve the issue. Another problem could be a frozen coil, which often occurs when it is particularly humid, and combined with the cold it causes freezing; this can also often be resolved by running just the fan.

Apart from these things, it could be a faulty unit or thermostat, though to verify this you would need a certified technician to come and look at the unit.
