Upgraded Equalizer for Enclosed Trailer With 8" long Equalizer

Question:

Hello, Looking at upgrading my enclosed trailer suspension. Its tandem axle, center to center is 33.5”. The equalizer bottom hole spacing is 8”. Looking at Dexter kits. I was wondering what is the best route to take. I find kits for 33” axle spacing, but nothing for the equalizer size. Thank you

The best upgraded equalizer is the one that is the closest match to your current measurements. Since you have an 8" long equalizer you want the Dexter # K71-655-00. This measures 7-3/4" center to center between the outer shackle bolt holes.

If you don't already have them, I recommend upgrading to heavy duty shackles, wet bolts, and bronze bushings as well. Assuming you have 2-1/4" shackle straps you can use the # K71-653-00 which comes with these parts and includes the same upgraded equalizer.
