How Do I know If The Cracks and Chips on Trunnion Bars Of Husky Centerline Are Normal Wear

Question:

i have a husky centerline ts hitch, i noticed the top of the trunnions are cracking and chipping, from what looks to be ware or stress. i have had this hitch for about 1 1/2 years, it was installed used by the dealer. Is this normal wear ? If not, do i need to reset my hitch ? and how can i prevent this?

If the cracks and chipping on your Husky Centerline is only through the powder coat it will not affect the usability of your weight distribution. You will want to put a protectant like paint over these areas to prevent rust from getting to the steel which will degrade the bars and could lead to failure. This is typical wear and tear of the trunnion bars.

If you see cracking and chipping into the steel you will want to replace your hitch. We used to carry the Husky products but we no longer as they had too many issues. You should consider replacing it with on of our Equal-i-zer weight distribution hitches. Be sure to select the correct hitch based on your trailers weight.

200-600lbs Tongue Weight, Trailer Up to 6,000lbs # EQ37060ET
600-1,000lbs Tongue Weight, Trailer Up to 10,000lbs # EQ37100ET
800-1,200lbs Tongue Weight, Trailer Up to 12,000lbs # EQ37120ET
1,000-1,400lbs Tongue Weight, Trailer Up to 14,000lbs # EQ37140ET
1,200-1,600lbs Tongue Weight, Trailer Up to 16,000lbs # EQ64FR

I have seen these systems used for several years and find it to be one of the true lifetime rated weight distributions which will last for a lifetimes use.
