Can Additional Charge Controllers Be Added Into A Solar Panel System To Increase Capacity

Question:

I have 6 - 195 watt panels which are connected to my charge controller and 6 - 100 ah lithium batteries. My RV park plug goes to a transfer switch. There is also a 3500 watt inverter and a converter which goes to my 120 electrical service panel. I decided to upgrade and am adding 4 more 195 watt solar panels and 4 more batteries. After realizing my original charge controller can only take 1300 watts I bought another smaller charge controller. My question is how do I add the smaller controller to the system.

Starting with the batteries, lithium RV batteries typically have a limit of 4 when paralleled together so you'll want to double check with the manufacturer of what limitations they have and adjust your setup accordingly to have them properly function.

Solar charge controllers like the one included in the Go Power Overlander Solar Charging System with Digital Solar Controller - 200 Watt Solar Panel # 34282181 can be wired together in parallel to increase the capacity and allow for more panels or you can wire the controllers separately to separate battery banks if you find that you need to split up the panels and batteries.
