Can 14-Ply Tires Replace 10-Ply Tires on a 16" Wheel

Question:

Can I put the GoodYear Endurance - G rated 14 ply tires on these rims? And what options do you recommend for a TPMS? I already purchased the TA75FR 16x6 on 5 1/2 from etrailer. Plan on putting ST23580R16 tires on and want to upgrade from the E tires on my toyhauler to the G tires for stability. Thank you!!

As long as you swap out the rubber valve stem on the Aluminum Viking Series Valhalla Trailer Wheel # TA75FR to the Metal Valve Stem # AM20906 and you don't exceed the 3,540 lb capacity of the wheel you'll be good to go.

When it comes to the tire sensors my personal favorite is the TST TPMS # TST34FR because it features a color display for easier reading and internal tire sensors that not only look nicer, but since they are inside the tire you don't have to worry about them growing a pair of legs and walking off.

The only down side to the internal sensors is that sensor batteries tend to last 12 - 18 months so you'll have to have the tires removed and remounted whenever a battery needs to be replaced. If you want to avoid this, the TST TPMS # TST-507-FT-4-C is my second recommendation because it uses flow through sensors. The battery life will be the same but this system makes it easier to replace the batteries, and then the flow through feature means you can adjust the psi rating in your tire without removing the sensor.
