Recommendations For Reducing Bounce Transferred From 2019 Shasta Oasis 26BH Travel Trailer

Question:

Just bought a 2: Ram Cummins 2500 4wd and we have a 2019 Shasta Oasis 26BH. Getting mixed signals on weight. One label is 7500jsh and the internet shows 4500ish. Truck is good no matter. Towing capacity is 19k. Problem is, the bounce. We live in South Louisiana and these roads are horrible. We have a WDH that we use as well

Your 2019 Shasta Oasis 26BH is going to have a maximum loaded weight rating(GVWR) of 7,550lbs according to the tag you sent in. The 4,500lbs you are seeing on the internet is most likely referring to the dry weight of the camper when it leaves the factory. This weight is not accounting for the propane, battery, water and any gear/supplies you load into the camper for a trip. That is where the maximum weight comes into notice.

With the stock suspension on your Shasta it does leave a lot to be desired as there is nothing to dampen the suspension like shocks on a car. The SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # TSS-107-40 are a great add on as they simply attach to the leaf spring mounting plate and will help to absorb shock when the trailer bounces. It also help to provide stabilization to the suspension reducing body roll in corners. I recommend also adding the MORryde Shock Absorbing Suspension Equalizers with Wet Bolts # MR46ZR. You will need either the 6-1/2" Equalizer # MR87ZR or 8" Equalizer # MR27ZR to replace your factory equalizer. You will need to measure from bolt hole center to bolt hole center on your equalizer and select the closer of the 2 options above. The cushioned equalizer and wet bolts will allow additional shock to be absorbed and the suspension to move more freely.

You will need Grease # L11390 and a Grease Gun # L30416 to fill the wet bolts.
